Everytime I have visited my sister we have tried to line up an updated family photoshoot and it has rained every single time, so in April when I was in Newcastle the weather was perfect so we scheduled it in!
Have you ever been to Rathmines (Lake Macquarie) in NSW?
It is a beautiful little peaceful suburb where we grew up. We decided to do the photoshoot in the morning down by the lake and the conditions were perfect, kids were being playful and happy!

An afternoon with Jaime, Owen, Sophie and Oscar
Most who know me or have booked me for a wedding knows I like to do a complimentary love (engagement) session, not only to give my clients some beautiful photos but to see how they are in front of the camera before their big day! And most times I ask them to bring their children along if they have children. Well yesterday was no different except Jaime was very nervous and feeling a little self conscious. I don’t know why she looked amazing!
We met at Point Arkwright, Coolum, Queensland and made our way down to the beach and found our spot and got straight into it as they had small children. And man did they nail the session, we laughed, played games, snuggled and laughed a whole lot more.
Here is a snippet of what we captured yesterday

Baby Isabella made her way earthside after her due date and come in to the studio for some photos with her mummy! Sweet baby girl!
I first met Cherie when I photographed her maternity session back in December, we shot a couple of photos in her home, with her oldest son Kai! He wasn’t too happy about having his photo taken but he was trooper and followed instruction from Cherie and we have some really beautiful images of them both! During the maternity session Cherie had a few wardrobe changes which was cool and we got a few different shots, she did such a great job as we were out in the heat in the late afternoon. Cherie totally rocked her session, she looked so beautiful and relaxed.
Once I heard little Isabella was born I couldn’t wait to photograph her, Cherie bought along a few keepsake heirlooms that she asked Isabella be photographed in. These keepsakes have been in Cherie’s family for a long time, one of which was a swaddle knitted blanket that Cherie had mentioned that herself and her brother were wrapped up in when they were taken home from hospital as babies. Cherie’s son Kai was also photographed in the swaddle, so it was something special to their family and I was only too happy to use it.
Isabella had to visit twice as she wasn’t really into the first session and was really restless, second time round she was perfect, slept nearly the whole session stopped once for a bottle and then was happy to finish the session.
I absolutely love the photos of Cherie and Isabella, such a special bond a mum and daughter have, and in one of the photo’s it looks like Isabella is smiling which made Cherie smile and its just so beautiful.
Shanna, Josh and Miss Briar-Rose and I met back in December 2015 for their maternity session at Buderim Falls! We were lucky it was such a nice day, not too hot! Briar-Rose wasn’t too interested in having her photos taken, even dressing her up in a pretty tutu wasn’t enough and we had to bribe her just so we could get a couple, but once we got to the waterfall it was a different story. There were a couple of young people swimming and they politely moved over for us so we could get a couple of photos and even pulled faces and trying to get Briar’s attention as all she wanted to do was swim! When it come time to photograph Shanna and Josh by themselves I had the help of Briar pushing the button and she did a great job!
Little Miss Lacey-Mae was born 12th January 2016! What a gorgeous name for a gorgeous little girl, I love both of the girls names, so pretty. Shanna, Josh, Briar-Rose and Lacey-Mae all came to the studio for their newborn session, once we got miss Lacey-Mae to sleep it was smooth sailing, she slept through the whole session and we managed a couple of changes and both photos of Briar-Rose and Lacey-Mae together and family ones and photos of each Shanna and Josh with Lacey-Mae!
After the session was over I had to race off and pick up my little babes from school and once home edited a few to send to Shanna, I love the reactions when they receive a little sneaky of photos from the session
” OMG their insane, so beautiful. I’m going to have to blown them up on a big canvas, so amazing, thankyou ”
” I’m so in love with them, your definately our family photographer from now on 🙂 ”
These words made my day, this is why I love what I do, seeing and hearing these reactions from clients, I think I have one of the best jobs in the world!
