Beautiful beaches, great venues and endless locations for photos to choose from.
Aimee and Mitchell set up their wedding at First Cutting Noosa North Shore.
I knew these guys would be a bit emotional so I was ready for it. I had the pleasure of working with some incredible vendors (check out Aimee and Mitchell’s Dream team list above) but first time working with Kirsty Spencer Celebrant. Kirsty wrote a ceremony tailored to Aimee and Mitchell and nailed it and I hope to be able to work with her again as she was a lot of fun. She told Aimee and Mitchell’s story which represented who they are and captured their personalities.
I just want to make a special to Aimee’s make up artist Sian Howard Makeup whom I have worked with before and love her. When Aimee was just about ready to walk out the door Sian reapplied lippy and then sprayed sunscreen over Aimee so she wouldn’t burn.
I loved this extra special touch Sian had done.
I asked Aimee a few questions about her wedding day below
Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for your wedding day?
Organisation and lots of lists, best thing we did was bought a wedding planner book and started planning early. When it comes to the actual day best advice I was given was “doesn’t matter what happens or if anything goes wrong, as long as you are married to Mitch at the end of today that’s all the matters and what you are here for”
Were you nervous about walking down the aisle?
I was so nervous , not because I was about to see Mitch but because I knew everyone’s eyes would be on me. My dad actually grabbed my leg in the car and told me to stop shaking.
What were you feeling walking down the aisle looking at your husband/wife to be?
I was overjoyed with happiness and so much love
Was the groom/bride waiting at the alter emotional when he/she saw you for the first time? How did that make you feel?
I knew Mitch would be emotional but I was not expecting the reaction I got from him. He was really emotional which made me emotional and I just wanted to give him a big hug
What was your favourite moment from your beautiful wedding day?
Our favourite moment was definitely seeing each other at the aisle
If you had a bridal party why did you choose who you chose?
We choose important people to us and who we know will be around for a long time to stand by us on one of our most important days. They have all been there for us through thick and thin
How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?
Our wedding day was nothing short of amazing, it lived up to all the hype and we had the most perfect, relaxed and beautiful day
Tell me about your wedding dress
I had my heart set on a long sleeve, low back dress for a long time, it was just a matter of finding one. My friend came across GLL and I fell in love with my dress online. I wasn’t interested in going to any other dress shops or trying other dresses on until I went to Grace Love Laces, it was the first dress I got to put on and I teared up as soon as I had it on, I knew it was the one. I tried a few more dresses on but nothing compared to the MAI. It was perfect, long sleeve, low back, beautiful lace with a split at the front which was prefect for the beach. It was the most comfortable dress and so easy to move and dance in all night!
Did anything go wrong on your wedding day? Crazy story?
Not actually on the wedding day, but Mitch decided to take my sister and I for a spin in the wedding car on the beach 2 days before the wedding and got us bogged up to the axle, he had my sister and I trying to push him out but there was no way we were pushing it out and the tide was almost high. I had to call my step dad, dad and uncle and get them to come down and snatch him out
Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We went to Thailand and we stayed in Phuket and Koh Samui. It was a great place to relax and unwind

“You are my beautiful forever… a connection so deep that even an eternity doesn’t seem long enough to spend with you.” – Steve Maraboli
Photographing friends is always a lot of fun so when Hayley asked me to photograph her and Mikey for their engagement I was blown away and honoured to be asked. Hayley is also in the wedding industry and many of you may know or seen her working at various events around the Sunshine Coast with her photobooth business Ishoot Photobooth. Mikey also works with Hayley when she has a few bookings the same time.
I met with Hayley initially to discuss a theme or come up with ideas for their photoshoot when it was mentioned that Hayley would like to include their furbaby in the shoot!
Then Hayley mentioned it was a kitty cat.
We started the shoot at their place with kitty then made our way over to Emu Mountain, Coolum for some fun.
The week we did this session was Hayley and Mikey’s 10 year anniversary of being together with 4 of those engaged with their wedding to come in April 2020.
I am so excited to be photographing their special day as its a wedding with a bit of uniqueness (is that even a word? Is now).
Thankyou Hayley and Mikey for sharing your life journey with me!
Bring on the wedding!

your guide to attending a wedding expo
The Sunshine Coast’s most anticipated wedding expo is only 3 weeks away!
The Sunshine Coast Wedding Expo will be held on Sunday 4th November 2018 at Maroochy RSL Events Centre between 11am to 3pm.
Every ticket purchased increases your chance of winning the $5000 prize to spend towards your dream wedding day.
Tickets are now on sale!
Have a girls day out with your girls (mum included)
Sunshine Coast Wedding Expo has been putting together these exhibitions since 2016 and are held biannually, one in May and one in November.
Showcasing some of the most recognised wedding vendors on the Sunshine Coast.
Over the last couple of years I have been lucky enough to talk with many brides and grooms about their wedding day plans and I love watching all the excitement the expo brings where they see ideas on something or they are talking to you and their eyes light up and then to see that on their wedding day, being part of it all is a great feeling!
Hopefully a few of these tips below will help you enjoy the wedding expo experience and not overwhelm you too much.
Bring your ladies with you!
Chances are your going to be overwhelmed by everything you see at the expo, especially if it’s the first one you have attended. Bring your ladies with you so they can help with the planning and take some of the information for you!
It’s an exhausting day for everyone involved and last thing we want is for you to go home totally confused and stressed about the whole experience of planning your wedding day!
Its supposed to be fun and joyful, so let others help you!
Also its a good excuse to catch up with your girls for a lunch or dinner to help you go through all the information you have collected and narrow down who you would like to talk with further.
Have an idea of your wedding date and guest numbers.
This is most likely the first question suppliers ask to make sure they’re available and able to cater for your wedding. It also helps them tailor their package and pricing information.
Popular wedding months are booked months and even years in advance with some suppliers, the earlier the better to avoid missing out on who you love to be helping on your wedding day.
Don’t forget to create a dedicated wedding email address.
Make it easy for yourself and create a wedding email address thats kept seperate from everyday emails to avoid them getting lost!
Easier to keep it all in one place, and you can keep updated with competitions, exclusive specials and giveaways.
Do take the time to chat with suppliers.
You want to choose suppliers who are not only fantastic at what they do, but also great to work with!
You need to click with them, after all you will be talking/spending a lot of time with them leading up to the wedding and last thing you would want is awkward moments or not being on the same level of what you want.
Striking up a conversation is the best way to find people you click with and get a better idea of what they offer.
Ask them questions, that’s why they are there.
Look at their products and see if it is something you would really like to have at your wedding or after. Photographers always have albums of weddings they have done for you to look through.
Watch a video at a Videographers display, I can guarantee you will love to have one of your own after watching it.
There will be someone who will suit your budget and style, and you will know from the get go when you start to talk with them.
Enter competitions if they have one or if you are interested take their flyer/card to contact them at a later date to discuss more.
Don’t try to plan your entire wedding in one day.
What do you want to achieve from the wedding expo.
What is the most important part of your wedding you would like to get started with?
If you can have a meeting with a supplier you like to discuss a booking soon after the expo then thats great, bonus even if you manage to do it on the day!
Keep track of your favourites.
Take photos of displays that catch your eye, separate out the business cards of suppliers who are a good fit and jot down notes as you go.
When you go back through the cards and see the notes, you will remember who you liked to talk to again.
Specials and competitions.
Make sure you fill in competition tickets, raffles, look at specials and whats included.
As the saying goes “got to be in it to win it” and why not!
Wedding expos are a great way to save big $$$ on your wedding if you take advantage of what vendors have to offer, just make sure you check their T&C’s.
Don’t feel pressure to commit on the day.
It’s okay if you need some time to weigh up the different options and come back to suppliers with any questions you might not think of on the day.
Look through the information as soon as possible after the event.
The earlier you debrief with your partner, the better! Chat about which suppliers stood out most and why, check out their work online and decide who you’d like to follow up with.
And just like that you are starting to check things off your wedding planning list!
Remember to have fun it’s an exciting time

Josie and Chris’s Dream Team of Suppliers
“I believe that when two people are in love with each other, you can see it in their eyes.
The way they look at each other, the way they stare at each other, it’s all there.
Their eyes are full of admiration, of attraction, of undying feelings for each other.
Their eyes twinkle, their eyes are smiling.
Even if they didn’t say a word about it, there’s this invisible thread connecting them two.”
Josie and Chris chose to have their wedding day at Novotel Twin Waters Resort, celebrating with their closest family and friends. Most which had travelled from rural Queensland.
Reading through the answers to a questionnaire I asked Josie and Chris to fill in I completely get these two and why they are together. Probably one of the most honest questionnaire answers I have ever had……
It takes a lot to open up about a relationship and trusting someone outside your relationship with that kind of information and I really do appreciate it. It helps me to understand and know my boundaries with the portrait session!
Chris had surprised Josie with a gift and the most beautiful letter, I’m guessing the letter was beautiful as it made Josie teary and happy!
Josie in return gave a gift to Chris and to his parents!
It was great stepping into where everyone was getting ready, it was a chilled laid back vibe, but you could also feel the excitement in the air!
The ceremony was beautifully written by Kath Tilly Wedding Celebrant and was personalised for Josie and Chris with a reading from a family member.
One of my favourite parts of a wedding (and theres a few), the vows. I love when a Bride and Groom decide to write their own vows, usually one of them struggles to say them and I think its the sweetest!
After we had fun with bridal photos it was time to head to reception so Josie and Chris were able to celebrate with all their guests who had travelled for their wedding, before they took off to Europe for their honeymoon!
Thankyou Josie and Chris for choosing me to share your wedding day with me!

I swear souls have their own instinct. No matter how far they travel away y from one another, they will always find a way back to where they are supposed to be….. – J. Gress
Imagine winning $5000 towards your wedding!
That’s what happened to Bek and Callum. I met Bek when she attended the Sunshine Coast Wedding Expo in May 2017.
I was so excited for this beautiful couple when Bek mentioned they won the jackpot that day.
Not long after the expo I met with Bek and Callum for coffee to talk all tings weddings and to see how they were going with all the planning.
We also chatted about how they met.
Callum and I knew each other as kids and went to the same primary school, but we only started dating in 2012.
After five years together, Callum popped the question whilst we were holidaying in Vietnam. From the moment we returned from our loved up trip, all I could think about was wedding planning.
Bek and Callum were married at Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World, their ceremony was written by Peter Willington Weddings who summed Bek and Callum in one sentence!
It takes about 30 seconds being in the presence of Callum and Bek to realise that they have that love like you see in rom coms, that’s Callum and Bek, thats real love!
That one sentence gave me goosebumps as it just summed them up perfectly!
Bek and Callum’s A-Team for the day were a breeze to work with!
