Lina and Sebastian’s Elopement
Fall in love with someone who is both your safe place and your biggest adventure. – Bianca Sparacino
Lina and Sebastian eloped while holidaying on the Sunshine Coast all the way from Switzerland. Sebastian’s mother is Australian so they decided to take a trip over to visit friends and family.
On one of the coldest days ever well not ever, they were married at One Tree Hill, Maleny by none other than the beautiful Toni Collett Celebrant.

This one is a little bit of a personal post because one of these guys is my cousin. Matt messaged me last December asking how my bookings were for June 2017. With my reply being I was a little quiet as wedding season had finished for a couple of months. I was a little intrigued and asked what was going on. Matt replied “Feel like accompanying us to New Zealand for our wedding?”
Can you imagine my excitement when I said “Are you freaking kidding me, Ofcourse, I would be absolutely honoured to come along.” So Queenstown, New Zealand here we come!
Bit of a back story with how Matt and Paul met, Matt used to work at Pet Barn with Paul’s sister many years ago but had never met Paul properly until 2016. They actually met online and after many weeks chatting to each other it was time they would meet in person. As Paul had been quite ill with migraines and putting off meeting Matt, Matt persuaded Paul to meet with him, so one evening whilst Paul’s Mum and Sister were sleeping he snuck Matt in and they sat up for hours just talking the night away.
A week later Paul invited Matt over to meet the family, at this stage Paul hadn’t actually come out to his family, so Matt bought over a cake with words on it saying “Happy Coming Out” and from there their relationship has flourished.
As Matt and Paul were unable to legally marry in Australia they decided to get married in Queenstown, New Zealand.
I asked them apart from the obvious reasons why they chose New Zealand and these are their own words
“New Zealand because of the scenery around us and the ability to be photographed on snow capped mountains where views are breathtaking and the fact that it was private and the world stopped for us and our moment to be married.
After researching about Philippa Thomas – Queenstown Wedding Celebrant who was our celebrant it was obvious it was Queenstown was where we were going to be married.”
I spent 5 amazing days in Queenstown with a few of those being spent with Matt, Paul and Matt’s parents who were also witnesses for their wedding and had the best time!
Matt and Paul were to be married Saturday 10th June 2017 at The Remarkables, but due to weather we had a change of plans and we were going to Cecils Peak.
I arrived to the boys around midday and photographed them at the Hilton Hotel where they were staying before we were picked up by the helicopter company Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters.
I’m not going to lie I was excited, nervous and scared all at the same time about going in a helicopter, but once it took off I was fine and soaking in the sights.
After a few minutes we reached and landed on Cecil Peak and my gosh it was freezing cold!
Philippa was incredible and a true professional who organised us all and created the most perfect, heartfelt ceremony with tears flowing and laughs throughout, you could really feel the love up there. The view was equally spectacular with the ceremony right on the edge of the peak!
What an amazing honour to be there with family on top of Queenstown witnessing two people in love, making a lifelong commitment to each other, it’s just such a shame Australia is so far behind the times.
Thankyou for looking after me during my time In Queenstown Matt and Paul I had the most amazing time sharing such a special moment with you both.
