I had been waiting all year for Chelsea and Damien’s wedding at The Rocks Yandina. I met Chelsea at the Sunshine Coast Bridal Expo where she entered my wedding photography package raffle and WON!
After my first meeting with Chelsea and Damien I was excited about their wedding day.
Getting to know them both I got to hear how they met at their workplace. They were both working in Brisbane at the Gabba where a mutual friend had introduced them, from there they say the rest is history.
They both love their AFL, love to roadtrip as they live in Townsville they visit their family on the Sunshine Coast whenever they can, they also love the outdoors spending time with each other having a coffee at a local coffee shop or out exploring.
I caught up with these guys are few times leading up to their wedding starting with their engagement session and then to go over their timeline for the wedding.
On the big day it was raining as I pulled up to where the boys had been getting ready. The sun was shining over the beach which you could see from back balcony and the boys got ready for their photos. Damien seemed relaxed and excited for it all to happen, as I left them be they were battling it out on the playstation.
Over with the girls they were just about to finish hair and makeup it was raining a little and supposed to clear for the afternoon. After gifts and cards exchanged the girls changed into their dresses, sipped on a champers and had some photos together before I left for the ceremony. Chelsea was also quite relaxed and excited. No worry of rain in sight.
Wedding ceremony went perfectly thanks to Kath Tilly Celebrant then on we went with photos and then on to party at reception.
If you haven’t seen Too The Skies Band you should definitely check them out. They were brilliant and kept the dancefloor packed all night long.

A few questions I asked Chelsea and Damien after their wedding:

Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for your wedding day?

To make a list of everything you need to reduce stress

Were you nervous about walking down the aisle?

Nope!

What were you feeling walking down the aisle looking at your husband/wife to be?

That I am so lucky to have such a beautiful man to share my life with

Was the groom/bride waiting at the alter emotional when he/she saw you for the first time? How did that make you feel?

Damo – I was very excited and was hoping she didn’t fall!

What was your favourite moment from your beautiful wedding day?

The whole ceremony and especially saying my vows

If you had a bridal party why did you choose who you chose?

Because they are friends we know we will have for a life time!

How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?

It was relaxed and full of fun!

Tell me about your wedding dress

The favourite part of my dress was the back of it and the lace.

Did anything go wrong on your wedding day? Crazy story?

Nothing went wrong I couldn’t believe it

Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?

We travelled around Byron and Kingscliff – perfect if you love just chilling at the beach

Thank you both for choosing me to share your special day with you, your family and friends
Congratulations again!

https://www.outix.co/tickets/event/171024-sunshine-coast-wedding-expo-nov-4th-2018

Sunshine Coast Wedding Expo has been putting together these exhibitions since 2016 and are held biannually, one in May and one in November.
Showcasing some of the most recognised wedding vendors on the Sunshine Coast.

Over the last couple of years I have been lucky enough to talk with many brides and grooms about their wedding day plans and I love watching all the excitement the expo brings where they see ideas on something or they are talking to you and their eyes light up and then to see that on their wedding day, being part of it all is a great feeling!

Hopefully a few of these tips below will help you enjoy the wedding expo experience and not overwhelm you too much.

Bring your ladies with
 you!
Chances are your going to be overwhelmed by everything you see at the expo, especially if it’s the first one you have attended. Bring your ladies with you so they can help with the planning and take some of the information for you!
It’s an exhausting day for everyone involved and last thing we want is for you to go home totally confused and stressed about the whole experience of planning your wedding day!
Its supposed to be fun and joyful, so let others help you!
Also its a good excuse to catch up with your girls for a lunch or dinner to help you go through all the information you have collected and narrow down who you would like to talk with further.

Have an idea of your wedding date and guest numbers.
This is most likely the first question suppliers ask to make sure they’re available and able to cater for your wedding. It also helps them tailor their package and pricing information.
Popular wedding months are booked months and even years in advance with some suppliers, the earlier the better to avoid missing out on who you love to be helping on your wedding day.

Don’t forget to create a dedicated wedding email address.
Make it easy for yourself and create a wedding email address thats kept seperate from everyday emails to avoid them getting lost!
Easier to keep it all in one place, and you can keep updated with competitions, exclusive specials and giveaways.

Do take the time to chat with suppliers.
You want to choose suppliers who are not only fantastic at what they do, but also great to work with!
You need to click with them, after all you will be talking/spending a lot of time with them leading up to the wedding and last thing you would want is awkward moments or not being on the same level of what you want.
Striking up a conversation is the best way to find people you click with and get a better idea of what they offer.
Ask them questions, that’s why they are there.
Look at their products and see if it is something you would really like to have at your wedding or after. Photographers always have albums of weddings they have done for you to look through.
Watch a video at a Videographers display, I can guarantee you will love to have one of your own after watching it.
There will be someone who will suit your budget and style, and you will know from the get go when you start to talk with them.
Enter competitions if they have one or if you are interested take their flyer/card to contact them at a later date to discuss more.

Don’t try to plan your entire wedding in one day.
What do you want to achieve from the wedding expo.
What is the most important part of your wedding you would like to get started with?
If you can have a meeting with a supplier you like to discuss a booking soon after the expo then thats great, bonus even if you manage to do it on the day!

  Keep track of your favourites.
Take photos of displays that catch your eye, separate out the business cards of suppliers who are a good fit and jot down notes as you go.
When you go back through the cards and see the notes, you will remember who you liked to talk to again.

Specials and competitions.
Make sure you fill in competition tickets, raffles, look at specials and whats included.
As the saying goes “got to be in it to win it” and why not!
Wedding expos are a great way to save big $$$ on your wedding if you take advantage of what vendors have to offer, just make sure you check their T&C’s.

Don’t feel pressure to commit on the day.
It’s okay if you need some time to weigh up the different options and come back to suppliers with any questions you might not think of on the day.

Look through the information as soon as possible after the event.
The earlier you debrief with your partner, the better! Chat about which suppliers stood out most and why, check out their work online and decide who you’d like to follow up with.
And just like that you are starting to check things off your wedding planning list!

Remember to have fun it’s an exciting time

“I believe that when two people are in love with each other, you can see it in their eyes.
The way they look at each other, the way they stare at each other, it’s all there.
Their eyes are full of admiration, of attraction, of undying feelings for each other.
Their eyes twinkle, their eyes are smiling.
Even if they didn’t say a word about it, there’s this invisible thread connecting them two.”

Josie and Chris chose to have their wedding day at Novotel Twin Waters Resort, celebrating with their closest family and friends. Most which had travelled from rural Queensland.
Reading through the answers to a questionnaire I asked Josie and Chris to fill in I completely get these two and why they are together. Probably one of the most honest questionnaire answers I have ever had……
It takes a lot to open up about a relationship and trusting someone outside your relationship with that kind of information and I really do appreciate it. It helps me to understand and know my boundaries with the portrait session!

Chris had surprised Josie with a gift and the most beautiful letter, I’m guessing the letter was beautiful as it made Josie teary and happy!
Josie in return gave a gift to Chris and to his parents!
It was great stepping into where everyone was getting ready, it was a chilled laid back vibe, but you could also feel the excitement in the air!
The ceremony was beautifully written by Kath Tilly Wedding Celebrant and was personalised for Josie and Chris with a reading from a family member.
One of my favourite parts of a wedding (and theres a few), the vows. I love when a Bride and Groom decide to write their own vows, usually one of them struggles to say them and I think its the sweetest!

After we had fun with bridal photos it was time to head to reception so Josie and Chris were able to celebrate with all their guests who had travelled for their wedding, before they took off to Europe for their honeymoon!
Thankyou Josie and Chris for choosing me to share your wedding day with me!

The girls were nice and chilled while having their hair and makeup done by By Sarah Jane  during the morning.
The amazing arrangements of flowers were produced by Mondo Floral Designs. Styling by Coast to Country Wedding and Events and scrumptious looking cake by Heaven Leigh Cakes,
which tasted just as good as it looked.

Sunshine Coast Engagement | Bek + Callum

Wild Horse Mountain, Pine Forest Engagement session

Sunshine Coast Engagement Session

Wild Horse Mountain, Glass House Mountains

Imagine attending a wedding expo and winning $5000 towards your wedding!
That’s what happened to Bek and Callum. Whilst attending Sunshine Coast Wedding Expo in May 2017. Bek bought her ticket online, turned up and waited for the draw for the prize and when her name was call out, the look on her face was priceless!
Now she had $5000 to spend on her wedding just for buying her ticket and being present while the prize was drawn, we had a quick chat and decided we would make a date to catch up for coffee so I could meet Callum and from there wet hit it off!

We have been keeping in touch regularly and finally got around to organising their engagement session which Bek requested we use the Pine Forest at Wild Horse Mountain location! I had no idea where this area was so after a little drive around I found this spot.
I love it! It has the Pine Forest on one side which is off a dirt road and wait for it, a pineapple farm on the opposite side, what more could you want in a location?

Once we started the session I gave Bek and Callum a couple of prompts to help them relax a little bit and create the mood we wanted for their session, they were being all romantic and connecting emotionally with each other.
I was wanting to try something a little different with them and brought some Coloured Smoke Bombs with me and it was time to light them up for a bit of a different effect, and I love what we created.
I cannot wait for their wedding day in July at Maleny Botanic Gardens. Two and a half months and counting down.
